“Cameo"
3/27/1997 - 8/14/2006
Our hearts are heavy and sad....we lost our first Sammy baby far too young.
Cameo is our first Samoyed, and what a learning experience she was! She taught us about the true Samoyed that lurks behind that pretty white fuzzy face. We learned about counter surfing….when she brought the 21lb.Thanksgiving turkey into the living room to eat. We learned that paper is a food group, that toilet water was far better than what’s in the water bowel, that 2 white feet can dig a hole bigger, deeper, and faster than any construction crew….and about Sammy love!
When she turned 2, she was x-rayed to check her hips and it was then that we found out she had hip dysplasia. This led me to my interest and study of pedigrees and genetics.
Next to David (her very favorite person), puppies were her second love. She made sure that the puppies that have come to live here were well versed in the fine art of being all the Sammy they can be….Lessons in squirrel chasing, stuffy killing, hole digging, garbage can forging and counter surfing were required. Besides being chief puppy trainer she was the alpha dog of our pack and kept everybody in line.
Cameo was our first sheep herder, even with hip dysplasia she was very good at it and loved being in the sheep pen. Watching her doing what Samoyeds were born to do got me hooked on this working aspect of the Samoyed.
We miss you snuggle bunny.....I know you've found Ringo, you 2 run free without pain, playing doggie games until we see you again.
ASCENSION-by Colleen Corah Hitchcock
And if I go,
while you're still here. . .
Know that I live on,
vibrating to a different measure
-behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we
can soar together again,
-both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest.
And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart,
. . .I will be there.
