Padako Samoyeds located in Brooksville Florida on 2.5 fen
We've had Samoyeds since 1997. I've put mulitable conformation titles on 3 dogs; I'm currently showing our 2nd home bred girl. I've also shown and bred Dobermans in the 70's and 80's. Samoyeds are an excellent herding dog and I enjoy working with them in the sheep pen. We have 3 that have AHBA started titles, one that accomlished her HCT-s at the tender age of 9 months. Each year at the Florida State Fair our dogs participate in the Meet The Breeds offered in the Purebred Dog barn. They have a ball giving kisses to any child that gets close enough and getting hugged and snuggled by all. They're very good ambassadors for the breed. I'm a pet groomer of over 30 years and have always loved dogs. I grew up in a military family and with all the moving around we did my parents said we couldn't have a dog. When I graduated and moved out on my own I went to the pound and adopted a cockapoo named "Heidi" and have had dogs every since. David is retired so he's home a lot more...the dogs love it. They get to spend more time outside chasing squirrels...the Padako packs main hobby. While David loves the dogs he’s not much into the dog show scene. He doesn’t mind staying home with the retired dogs while I go to dog shows. We don’t breed often but when we do, a lot of research is done before we do the actual breeding. Health and temperament are important to me, while I do a breeding for myself, I try to insure that those puppies that I place in other homes are bred to be healthy, happy, loving family companions. All puppies are born and raised in our home. They're exposed to normal household noises from the day they're born...the vaccum, the hairdryer, clanging of pots and pans etc. Puppies are held and carried from the very begining, playing with their feet, ears etc making sure that the puppies are ready to be a family member. After the puppies have had their 1st shots at 7 weeks they go to work with me everyday to the grooming shop I work in where they're handled, hugged and cuddled by our grooming clients and their children. By the time they go to their new homes they are total people dogs. All dogs living at Padako Samoyeds over 2 yrs old are x-rayed and those x-rays evaluated by OFA for hip and elbow dyslasia, eyes are examined yearly by a canine veterinary ophthalmologist and results sent to CERF. All dogs being bred here at Padako Samoyeds are cleared free of PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) either by DNA testing through OptiGen or by asending parentage. Because thyroid levels vary with age, thyroid testing is done before breeding and results are available on request. All dogs at Padako Samoyeds are raw fed and puppies are weaned to a raw diet. We vaccinate using the vaccination protocal recommended by Dr. W. Jean Dodd DVM . For more information on feeding a raw diet or why we use the vaccination protocal we do, please contact us or go to *Favorite Links* and look under Raw Diet or Vaccinations.
